Voter-Owned Iowa Clean Elections (VOICE) is a statewide
campaign led by
Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (CCI).
Iowa CCI is
everyday people who talk, act and get things done on issues that
impact us the most.
Issues like having a factory farm move in
next door and devalue your property or shady lenders that take advantage
of people.
And we’re good at it. This past year,
we fought for and won Iowa’s first ever clean air standards
for factory farms. And over the past 3 years, members have helped
families recover over $4 million from shady lenders.
We have thousands of members across Iowa
from all walks of life – urban and rural, black and white,
immigrants and lifelong Iowans – and we’re working together
to get things done. CCI staff has over 100 years of combined experience
and they provide the training and expertise, but it’s our
members that provide the focus and the leadership and the power
in numbers.
We are one of those unique organizations
that is truly by the people and for the people. We believe you don’t
have to stand by and just let things happen, which is probably why
we’re growing so much.
Our Mission:
The mission of Iowa CCI is to empower
and unite grassroots people of all ethnic backgrounds to take
control of their communities; involve them in identifying problems
and needs and in taking action to address them; and be a vehicle
for social, economic, and environmental justice.
